GoodBox wins Red Dot Design Award

The GBx Core has been awarded a Red Dot Award in the Product Design 2019 category.

Every year, The Red Dot Awards recognise designers and companies whose products represent the very best in design and innovation. This year Red Dot received over 5,500 products for testing, before a jury of 40 international experts arrived at their decision.

Andrew O’Brien, GoodBox CEO commented: “After spending over two years researching, designing and building the GBx Core, we are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this coveted prize. The GBx Core has been a true labour of love, and this win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the GoodBox team. Our aim in building this device was to innovate in the charity sector, and provide the third sector with genuinely ground breaking products. We couldn’t be more delighted to have been recognised by the Red Dot jury.”

Professor Dr Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot added: “I would like to congratulate the laureates sincerely on their wonderful success. The fact that their products were able to satisfy the strict criteria of the jury bears testimony to their award-winning design quality. The laureates are thus setting key trends in the design industry and are showing where future directions may lead.”

The GBx Core’s minimalist form and colour encases a functionally rich product. Built to accept payments from contactless capable bankcards and mobile devices, the GBx Core enables charities to upload campaigns to a full HD touch-screen, delivering emotive appeals to their donors. Quiet, modern design language means that the device will not compete with a charity’s brand or messaging. The GBx Core has a modular design, making it adaptable for multiple fundraising environments, whether it’s safely mounted on a retail counter-top, or hand-held at outdoor events. An IPX3 rating ensures the device is suitable for all weather conditions. Furthermore, an attachable battery handle increases battery life from 6 to 12 hours, and provides lanyard clips for ease of use.

GoodBox will be presented with its award, alongside our product design agency V2 Studios at a special gala ceremony at the Aalto-Theatre in Essen, Germany on July 8 2019. From that date, our entry will be shown in the Red Dot Design Yearbook
