Series A Round Closure

2019 saw GoodBox open up to investment from the public via a Series A Funding Round with the purpose of driving further innovation on behalf of the charity sector and internationalisation. The tail end of the round was placed on the Seedrs crowdfunding platform, and with great success. Over 700 investors participated, ultimately driving the campaign to 157% oversubscription and taking the total raised in this round through £3m.

However, just like the charities we support, we know that funds raised don’t mean much until they’re put to good use. This funding round unlocks the capability to further push development on behalf of a sector unable to justify the expense of self-innovation. The payment sector is an ever changing one and as we ‘tap’ our way toward a cashless society, charities reliant on cash are feeling the hit with fewer coins landing into their change buckets. So how do we plan on tackling this?

Not my job

Charities exist to fight disease, give homes to the homeless and make the world a better place, not pour precious resource into R&D on “changing consumer trends in the payment sector”. At GoodBox that’s our bread and butter, we pride ourselves on innovation. Since our foundation in 2016, we’ve strived to make the latest innovations available to charities of all sizes. This funding round will allow us to drive that mission forward, further developing the suite of products and services we can offer to charities. Automated Gift Aid solutions, hardware developments, software upgrades as well as a host of new products and accessories to suit the many different faces of fundraising are just a few of the projects in the GoodBox pipeline.

Spreading our wings

We don’t believe UK charities should be the only ones to benefit from the latest developments in fundraising technology. As such, one of our chief aims moving forward is to be able to support all charities, regardless of geography. Making GoodBox available in new countries will see local causes all over the globe keeping pace with innovation at minimal cost.

The last funding round we concluded saw the development and launch of our flagship device, the GBx Core. Needless to say with a cohort of new investors, each bringing their unique skill sets, talents and connections to the table, we’re incredibly excited to see what we can bring to the sector following our Series A.
